Of all the hall of fame musicals (Oklahoma!, The King and I, The Sound of Music) created by Rodgers & Hammerstein, Carousel was their personal favourite. It is not hard to see why. Ending with the great anthem of hope, courage and support, “You’ll Never Walk Alone”, Carousel takes us to a late 19th century Maine seaside, where millworker Julie falls hopelessly in love with tough carnival barker, Billy Bigelow. Filled with celebration, music, laughter and tragedy, this great musical is an unforgettable testimony to the power of love. (195 minutes. Rated PG)
