OK CAMPS ARE GAINING NEW MOMENTUM!

Get the word out to your friends that spots for all Sessions of Camp OK and Kamp Kidlets are booking as I write.

There are plenty of spots open in all sessions of Camp OK (check them on www.oktc.ca), although some production choices are full or close to it. But, even so, the 2nd choices are indeed “choice”, and it is the fun and pleasure of the entire camp experience that always matters most. Ask the kids!

Every session of Kamp Kidlets still has openings.

For the first time, we take special pleasure in announcing that all 3 of the Camp OK Management Team grew up as Original Kids at Camp OK and in the Main Company.

Meaghan Furlonger: Camp OK Director

Will Johnston: Program Coordinator

Cullen Hepp: Leadership Coordinator

What a team!

OK NYC TRIP REVIEWS ARE IN!

“Went by way too fast… filled with memories I know I’ll have with me the rest of my life.”

“ With OK’s trip, it is the freedom and the trust in us that makes the week so memorable.”

“Thank you for organizing another flawless trip to New York for us.”

“ I hit the ground running. I knew what I wanted to do and how to do it.”

“This year’s trip will be the one I’ll always remember. I realized how much you and our supervisors put into it and how selfless you are.”

“ I saw 10 memorable shows, made new friends, and had the amazing chance to explore the most fabulous city on this planet.”

From Art: “Personally, as Tour Chief, I was proud of everyone on the trip. You seized the week, made the most of it, and worked to be kind to and supportive of one another. Our bus driver, Larry, took the unusual step of telling you all how special a group of young travelers Original Kids are. Xenia at the Hotel Edison emailed me to say how much the hotel staff appreciates Original Kids, and how you outperform (and out-behave!)all the 100’s of youth groups who stay in the hotel. Finally …like all of you… I love our Supervisors!”

The 2012 OKNY Trip, if all goes well, is booked for March 8 to 15. If you are interested and going to be in high-school by then, you can get on the Interest List by emailing art@oktc.ca .

JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR IS GOING TO ROCK - SERIOUSLY!

I’ve booked A+ seats (ordinarily over $100). The entire trip (ticket, bus, workshop with cast members) is $50. There are 20 spots left. Parents and friends as well as Original Kids are welcome to grab this offer. But I suggest you book it now, because I predict that this production is going to go crazy! art@oktc.ca

     KIDBIT

1. OK Jimmy Mallett went through a long and demanding audition process at the Stratford Festival, and came out with  the special role of Tom in the great musical, Camelot, appearing with a star-studded cast on the legendary Festival Stage. There’s definitely a show to put on your must-see list for this season! Congratulations, Jimmy!!

Jimmy’s progress report: “Working at the Stratford Festival has been exciting and nerve wracking…You can be called all day and never make it on stage (but they pay you anyway!). Right now I’m working on showing my emotions more, and I have a vocal coach and a dialect coach. You never know what the director is going to say or ask…I love my Mom for driving me!”

2. As you know, our big Fund-Raiser Gala, The Sounds of Love, brought in about $12,000. You can rest assured that we are not sitting on it. Production Manager Jeff Crane says that so far we have purchased 4 channels of Sennheiser Microphones ($3500), 6 MKE2 hair mikes ($1800), and a Production Computer with Adobe Audition 3 recording software ($1500). We are progressing with the purchase of the rest of our sound equipment, and our new wireless mikes will be installed for The Drowsy Chaperone. So the money is going directly to enhancing the theatre experience for our kids and our audiences. Come to Drowsy to have your ears treated.

3. South S.S. Musical Theatre is presenting Beauty and the Beast Mar. 4 to 7 at 730pm. Tickets through the Grand Theatre box office.

4. To all the OK’s in the Kiwanis Festival – Seize the moment and make great art! Our fondest wishes for your success!
